Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), form the backbone of African economies, accounting for the majority of all enterprises, employment, and GDP. However, due to limitations in size, SMEs face larger challenges when it comes to the capacity to green their operations, including knowledge about technologies and process to reduce carbon emissions and to climate-proof their business.

This side event will introduce a mapping study of capacity-building gaps and needs of SMEs to take climate action in Eastern and Southern Africa and bring together leading experts to discuss the topic.

The event will take place virtually on 28 September, 2021 from 18:00 to 19:00 (GMT+3). To register, sign up for Africa Climate Week here, and then navigate to our "Side Event" on the Africa Climate Weeks platform (Social27).

You can find more details and the schedule of the event in the Concept Note
